Metallurgy
department provides
As one of the leading programs in the Faculty of
Technical Education, the department of Metallurgy provides its 570
undergraduates a rich learning experience through a four-year integrated
program which includes theoretical and laboratory/workshop courses with the
purpose of preparing them for the 21st century.
Department of Metallurgy aims at educating its
graduates in mechanical metallurgy, materials science, extractive
metallurgy, welding as qualified applicants in their future carriers. In
addition to basic courses like mathematics, physics, chemistry, students
receive comprehensive vocational training through theoretical and practical
courses like technical drawing, design, materials science, powder
metallurgy, hot/cold plastic forming, steel construction and
manufacturing, arc welding, shielding gas, submerged arc and friction
welding techniques, metallography, basic materials characterization
methods, heat treatments. As part of the program students also take
courses in teacher training which empowers them with necessary teaching
skills. In that way our graduates get the chance to work as teachers in
vocational high schools besides being preferred qualified staff in
industry.
The department has been seeking for new
opportunities to increase cooperation with the industry in the fields of
advance technology materials and their characterization.
